Organization of Work
-(^^^^\/\/\ ́-
The College consists of three departments:-(i) the mary school, (ii) Middle school, (iii) Upper School.
(i) The Primary schooi: -Lower First Year, oper First Year and Second Year (called Special SSes) and the 5th Standard. No pupil is admitted a Special class unless he has passed the vernalar third Standard. Pupils of the Special classes SS through a special course in English, Arithmetic d other subjects in accordance with the departental syllabus of studies. At the end of the cond Year, pupils who qualify for promotion are Omoted to the 5th Standard.
(ii) The Middle school:-Forms I, II, III.
(iii) The Upper school: — Form IV, and Preatric and Matric Forms.
Pupils from Form IV are presented for the S. C. exam.
The College also prepares Students for the Interbience and Arts Examinations.

GENERAL RULES
dimission:
Admission to the College is open to boys and rls without distinction of race or creed.
A pupil who seeks admission must be in posseson of a record-sheet from the school or college he she has last attended and a birth-certificate. imission may be refused if the record-sheet shows

that the pupil's Conduct in the school previously
attended has been unsatisfactory or for any other reason the Principal deems adequate.
Pupils seeking admission may be required to pass an entrance examination graded according to the class to which admission is sought.
The first month's fees together with the terminal fees and an admission fee of Rs. 2/- in the case of the Special classes and Rs. 3/- in the case of classes higher up must be paid on the day of admission.
Withdrawal:
A pupil may be withdrawn at any time provided that his parent or guardian makes application for leaving certificate giving full one calendar month's notice and paying up all fees due. Any pupil who has entered for the Matric Examination of June and who gives notice to leave college by the end of March, April or May, must pay his fees to the end of June. Similarly a pupil who has entered for the same exam, of January and who gives notice to leave at the end of November must pay his fees to the end of December.
The Principal may, without disclosing reasons, send a pupil home for chronic indifference to work or gross misconduct or irregular attendance or any other remiSSneSS.
Attendance:
(a) Pupils absent from School without leave are fined 25 cents per day. In case of sickness, the parent or guardian is expected to inform the Principal in time; in default, the fine will be charged from the second daV.
(b) Leave of absence will not be granted to a pupil for any reason other than illness, except under

very special circumstances and upon production of a written request from his parent or guardian.
(c) Pupils whose fees are in arrears beyond the 20th day of the month for which they are due are Sent home.
(d) Pupils who come late shall not enter class without reporting themselves to the Principal and taking a permit from him, which will be issued only where satisfactory reasons are given. If no satisfactory reasons are given, the Principal may punish them at discretion and allow them to enter class.
(e) Pre-Matric and Matric Students absenting themselves from any test without the Principal's permission shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Rs. 5/-
Working Hours:
Fore-noon Session 9 a.m. to 12-30 p. m. After noon Session 1-40 p.m. to 3-40 p. m.

HOS TEL
1. The College maintains a hostel which is strictly vegetarian. It has accommodation for 125 residents. It is under the charge of a Boarding Master subject to the control of the Principal.
2. Pupils may become either weekly boarders, returning to their homes for the week-end, or monthly boarders, returning to their homes at the end of the term.
3. It is desirable that a pupil entering the hostel is provided with a complete outfit as suggested below:- One steel trunk (with secure lock); four veshties; four towels; four shirts; two bed-sheets; two white bed-spreads; one pillow; two pillow-cases; two blankets; one handbucket; one clothes-bag; one dining plate, Boarders who

prefer to use leaves instead of dining plates are expected to pay an extra fee of 50 cents per month. Before sending their boys to the boarding house, parents and guardians are requested to see that their boys' outfit is complete and all articles are marked clearly with name or initials.
4. No money will be advanced by the Principal to the boarders except under special circumstances. Parents are, therefore, advised to deposit with the Principal at the beginning of every month or term a sum of money sufficient to cover the expenses likely to be incurred by
their boys for stationery, clothing, travelling, pocketmoney, etc.
5. No pupil is allowed to go outside the College or boarding premises except where special reasons exist and with an exeat signed by the Boarding Master,
6. Dormitory arrangements are settled at the beginning of each term; and no pupil is allowed during the term to change his place without the permission of the Boarding Master.
7. Boarders not returning to the boarding house on the day appointed, at the beginning of each term, are liable to a fine not exceeding Rs. 2/- at the discretion of the Principal.
8. No boarder can be withdrawn by his parent or guardian from the hostel without a calendar month's notice or one month's boarding-fees being paid up in lieu of notice.
9. Pupils returning to the hostel after leave of absence must report themselves to the Principal before rejoining.
10. Misconduct in the hostel may entail summary expulsion from it as well as from the College under circumstances particularly aggravating.

FEE REGULATIONS
1. Fees (Tuition & Boarding) are payable monthly on or before the 10th of the month for which they are due, and, in January, May and September, within ten days after the beginning of the term. In case the last day for payment of fees happens to be a holiday, they may be paid on the next working day. If they are not paid by the due dates, a fine of Cts. 25 on tuition fees and cts. 50 on the boarding fees will be levied.
2. An admission fee of Rs. 2/- must be paid by every pupil seeking admission to the Boarding.
3. Every pupil from Form II to Matric who studies Science subjects must deposit Rs. 5/- on admission. In the case of the students in the Inter-Science Class the amout to be deposited is Rs. 7/50. This amount, less any charge for breakage or other damage, will be refunded when the pupil leaves the College.
4. The Terminal fees referred to in the attached Schedule are payable on or before the 10th February, June, and October of every year.
5. If special circumstances require that fees should be paid before the dates specified in these rules, the Principal will send round special circulars to that effect, and no fee shall remain due after the date fixed in such circulars.
6. The office-hours for receipt of fees will ordinarily be from 9 a.m., to 12.30 p.m.

SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of Scholarships is available annually for the benefit of deserving pupils of 18 years of age and under who are unable to pay school fees. Applications must be made before the end of December each year. The children of Teachers of the College and its branch schools are given free tuition.
If there are three brothers or sisters attending the College the youngest may be treated as a free Scholar; if there are four brothers or sisters attending, the eldest may be treated as a free scholar.
Special attention will be paid to the work, attendance, and conduct of free scholars, which, if found unsatisfactory, may make the Principal cancel the Scholarship. This applies to all classes of free scholars.
All classes of free scholars must pay the fees noted under 'Admission' and 'Terminal" in the Schedule of fees,

EXAMINATIONS AND REPORTS
Examinations are held at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd terms and also at other times to test progress. Promotions are made on a consideration of the combined results of the year's work and examinations. A report is sent at the middle and end of every term to the parent or guardian of each pupil as regards progress and conduct.

ASSOCATIONS
There is a literary association for every class from Form I upwards, which meets once a week. The Young Men's Hindu Association, which is devoted to the study and practice of the Hindu Religion, holds weekly meetings. There is a College Dramatic Society which stages a play every year.
LIBRARY AND READING ROOM
The Library is housed in the spacious hall downstairs. It is provided with ample seating accommodation, The Reading room is supplied with the following papers and magazines:- The Ceylon Daily News, The Observer, The Times of Ceylon, The Hindu Organ, Inthusathanam, The Children's Newspaper, The Teachers' World and School Mistress, Tit-Bits, Pictorial Education, The Hindu, The Illustrated Weekly of India, Armchair Science, The Illustrated, The Strand, The National Geographic Magazine, The Kalaimagal and The Ananda Vikatan,

ATHLETCS
The College is fortunate in having acquired a playground close to the College buildings. It is being made use of since January 1938.
Provision is made to play Football, Cricket, Volley Ball, and Basket Ball. The following members of the Staff are in charge of the games:-Messrs. P. Thiyakaraja, K. V. Mylvaganam and C. Sabaratnam.
Provision has also be in made for the practice of wrestling, and the services of an instructor have been engaged for the purpose.

SCOUTING
The College runs a registered Club Pack and a Scout Troop (4th Jaffna Troop). A Rover Crew is to be formed in the near future. In all there are about seventy-five Cubs and Scouts. The Cubs are in charge of Mr. V. Sundararajah and Mr. K. V. Mylvaganam is the Group Scout Master.
