ஆங்கிலத்தைக் கற்கத் தொடங்கும் மாணவரிகளைப் பெரிதும் இடர்ப்படுத்துவது காலவகைகளின் பயன்பாடேயாம் (the use of tenses), gas assir gliugig drfor a fairéis) தரப்பட்டுள்ளது.

LESSON 2
THE SENTENCE - WORD ORDER
unts (Predicate) gaudub.
இப்பாடத்தில் ஒருமுடிந்த கருத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தும் வாக்கிய அமைப்புப் பற்றிப் பார்ப்போம்.
பின்வரும் உதாரணங்களைப் பாருங்கள்.
cuckoo sings, black cuckoo sings. black cuckoo sings sweetly. black cuckoo sings sweetiy in my garden
black cuckoo with shiny feathers sings sweetly in my garden.
black cuckoo with shiny feathers sings sweetly in my garden day and night.

Page 9
1. Subject + be verb - Complement (Adjective)
எழுவாய் ) ஆகுவினை” + முடிக்குஞ் சொல் (பெயரடை),
Z– – Li : (you) be happy
John is happy
இவ்வாக்கியத்தில் * you தோன்றா எழுவாயாக் அமைய. * be " என்ற ஆகுவினையும் happy என்ற பெயரடையும் சேர்ந்து பயனிலையாக அமைகின்றன.
be, an, is are என்பனவும் இவற்றின் இறந்தகால உரு வங்களாகிய Was, Were, been என்பனவும் ஆங்கிலத்தில் *be verbs" எனப்படும்.

Peacock is beautiful. Boys are industrious. The girls were playful.
gei arri Suriasoflá) beautiful, industrious, playful என்பன முடிக்குஞ் சொல்” (Complement) என்பது நினைவில் இருக்க வேண்டும். அத்துடன் ஆகுவினையும், முடிக்கும் சொல்லும் சேர்ந்தே பயனிலையமைகிறது. மேலேயுள்ள உதாரணங் களில் முடிக்குஞ் சொல்லாக வந்தவை பெயரடைகள் (Adjective) ge5th.
Noun + be verb. 4 Complement (Noun) (எழுவாய் + "ஆகுவினை" + முடிக்குஞ் சொல் (பெயர்)
பெயரடை மட்டுமன்றிப் பெயர்ச் சொல்லும் முடிக்குஞ். சொல்லாக வரும்.
e - is : Ceylon is an island.
Rama is a soldier. Napoleon was an Emperor.
a - 5 He became ill.
I feel tired.
She looks young.
5豪

Page 10
become என்பது சில சமயங்களில் பெயரையும் முடிக்குஞ் சொல்லாகக் கொள்ளும்.
The husband and wife bacame
Prime Ministers.
You will become a teacher.
Subject -- be verb 1o Complement (Adverb) (எழுவாய் + "ஆகுவினை" + முடிக்கும் சொல் (வினையடை)
வினையடையை (அல்லது வினையடைத் தொடரை) முடிக் கும் சொல்லாக (அல்லது சொற்களாக) கொண்டுவரும் வாக்கியம் இன்னொருவகை.
How are you? I am well. Where are you? I am in my room.
Where is your sister? She is outside. The sky is above. My brother is in England.
வாக்கிய வகை II
豪6
Subject + Verb (67qpaJntü + 6s76a) 337) செயப்படுபொருள் குன்றிய வினையைப் பயனிலையாகக் கொண்டு வருவது.
e - à : Rani smiles.
The boys shouted.
Gopal died.
Rani cried.
என்பன பூரணமான வாக்கியங்கள். இவற்றின் கருத்தை முற்றுவிக்க செயப்படுபொருள் வேண்டியதில்லை. இவ்வாறு செயப்படுபொருள் ஏற்காத வினைகளைக் கொண்டு வருவது இரண்டாவது வகை வாக்கியம், அடுத்த வாக்கிய வகையில்
செயப்படுபொருள் கொண்டே அமையும் வாக்கியங்களைப் பார்க்கிறோம்.

வாக்கிய வகை I
1.
Subject + Verb 4 Object. (எழுவாய் + வினை + செயப்படுபொருள்)
"ஆகுவினை" யல்லாத முறையான வினைகள் (Verbs Proper) பெரும்பாலும் செயப்படுபொருள் பெற்றுவருவன.
e - - b : Boys play football. She prepares lunch.
He likes cakes. Gopal killed his enemy,
Gopal killed.
Subject + Verb + Object 4 Object (எழுவாய் 9 விளை9செயப்படுபொருள் 9செயப்படுபொருள்)
சில வினைகள் இரண்டு செயப்படுபொருள் கொள்வதுண்டு. ஒன்று நேரடியான செயப்படுபொருள் (Direct object) மற்றது, மறைமுகமான செயப்படுபொருள் (Indirect object) மறைமுகச் செயப்படுபொருள் தமிழில் நாலாம் வேற்றுமை சாரி பெயருக்குச் சமமானது.
bring, get give, leave, offer, send, pass, take, tell, read, write, teach, buy, sell, make, fix
ஆகிய வினைகள் இரு செயப்படுபொருள் ஏற்று வரும்,
7豪

Page 11
He gave me a book. அவன் எனக்குப் புத்தகம் தந்தான்.
I wrote my sister a letter. நான் எனது சகோதரிக்கு கடிதம் எழுதினேன்.
இத்தகைய வாக்கியங்களில் Indirect Object முதலிலும் Direct Object அதனையே தொடர்ந்தும் வருதல் காண்க. மறைமுகச் செயப்படுபொருளுடன் to அல்லது for சேர்த்து இதனைப் பின்னாகவும், நேரடிச் செயற்படுபொருளை முன் னாகவும் வைத்து எழுதலாம்.
e- - b : He gave a book to me.
I wrote a letter to my sister.
(5 still i si) buy, fix, make gau வினைகளுடன் for சேர்க்க வேண்டும். ஏனைய வினைகளுடன் *to' Gafféar aonrth.

THE COMPLEX SENTENCE (sasů a ráš4ub)
(Subordinate Clause) .
